Instructions 

Main Menu

• Play: Closes menu and goes to sandbox

• Clear Work: Clears the sandbox of all items

• Reload Work: Loads last sandtray back into sandbox. (The sandbox is auto-saved every time a change is made. The saved sand tray will remain in the browser’s cache even if the computer is turned off and back on.)

• Help & Controls: Application user guide (same instructions you are viewing here)

• Options:

  • Audio Toggle: Toggle to turn sounds on or off

  • Animations: Toggle to turn animations on or off

  • Graphics Quality: Select lower quality setting if you are experiencing lag.

  • Environment: Select different backgrounds

Mouse/Trackpad Controls

• Add Object: Click the treasure chest icon to expand the object library. Select a category and then an object to add it. Type a key word in the "type text” field at the top of each category screen to filter the items by the key word.

• Duplicate Object: Select an object. Click the duplicate icon in lower right corner or use spacebar.

• Remove Object: Select an object. Click the trash icon in lower right corner or use delete key.

• Multi-Select Objects: Hold control key while selecting items. Items can be moved or deleted together.

• Move/Nudge Object: Select an object. Drag and drop with mouse or use the arrow keys on the keyboard.

• Rotate Object: Select an object. Click the rotate icon, or use ‘<‘ or ‘>’ keys on keyboard.

• Scale Object: Select an object. Scroll on the mousewheel or drag two fingers up or down on trackpad.

• Bury Object: Double click an object once to half bury, twice to bury fully, and three times to unbury.

• Change view: With no object selected use ‘<‘ or ‘>’ keys on keyboard or arrows on screen.

• Zoom in/out: With no object selected, scroll on the mousewheel or drag two fingers up and down on trackpad.

• Sand Drawing Tool: Use icon on left side of sandtray above treasure chest to choose water, regular sand (eraser icon), mounded sand or grass then hold down left mouse button and drag cursor in sand.

• Move Keys: With object selected click down arrow by “Move Keys” label at top of screen. Use arrows to move object around. You can use this feature to move an object inside another object.

Touchscreen Controls

• Add Object: Click the treasure chest icon to expand the object library. Select a category and then an object to add it.

• Duplicate Object: Select an object. Click the duplicate icon in lower right corner.

• Remove Object: Select an object. Click the trash icon in lower right corner.

• Move Object: Select an object. Drag and drop.

• Rotate Object: Select an object. Click the rotate icon.

• Scale Object: Select an object. Use two finger pinch motion.

• Bury Object: Double click (or use bury icon) an object once to half bury, twice to bury fully, and three times to unbury.

• Change view: With no object selected use arrows on screen.

• Zoom in/out: With no object selected, use two finger pinch motion.

• Drawing Tools: Use icon on left side of sandtray above treasure chest to choose water, regular sand (eraser icon), mounded sand or grass then drag finger in sand. Click icon again to turn off.

• Move Keys: With object selected click down arrow by “Move Keys” label at top of screen. Use arrows to move object around. You can use this feature to move an object inside another object.

Troubleshooting

• For best performance only have one tab open in your browser if possible. Having other tabs open decreases memory for the application.

• If game fails to load try refreshing browser. Are you using Chrome or Firefox or Microsoft Edge? Only these three browsers are supported.

• If full screen icon (blue diagonal arrow) doesn’t appear on the right side under application screen check your browser zoom setting. You may need to zoom out slightly.

• If you are experiencing lag time while using SSP try changing the graphics quality setting to “low quality”. See main menu help above.
